ABOUT US

CIBA Foundation is a (501)(c3) nonprofit, private foundation that is deeply committed to enriching and strengthening the lives of disadvantaged and disabled children by partnering with charitable organizations that share the same mission. It was founded in 2005 by CIBA Insurance Services, an innovative insurance program that provides commercial property and liability insurance to commercial property owners and managers.

What makes us different?

CIBA Foundation is unique in that all donations and contributions fund grants that are used to purchase tangible items that directly impact the children's lives rather than to pay for administrative costs. Whether it be through learning materials or creative tools, we always ensure that 100% of the awarded grant fills a direct need of the children served by the grant recipient.

What have we been up to?

Since its forming, CIBA Foundation has made a positive impact in the lives of so many by awarding grants to organizations like AbilityFirst, PCDA, Villa Esperanza, Upward, S.E.R.T, and MusicWorks.

Over the past couple of years, as the country has coped with the trials of COVID-19, we see more than ever how important the CIBA Foundation’s efforts are. Our country has seen an increase in families facing illness, loss, unemployment, or homelessness. These hardships have profoundly impacted children who are already less fortunate because of a disability, living in foster care, or living in poverty. We were honored to award a grant to both Children's Bureau and Communities in Schools of Los Angeles for the purchase of laptops, iPads, and headphones for kids in the Los Angeles area who were unable to attend online school because of their home situation.

A CIBA Foundation Grant was awarded to Special Equestrian Riding Therapy, Inc. (S.E.R.T.) for the purchase of Ciba, the horse, who spent many years providing riding therapy to students living with physical or developmental disabilities. Sadly, Ciba passed away in 2020, but he left a lasting impact on the children whose lives he touched. S.E.R.T. continues to offer horse care for children with special needs. Visit their website at www.sert.org to learn more about what they do, and visit our VIDEOS page to watch a video of Ciba the horse and learn more about CIBA Foundation.
